Ruth Denney
Memorial Scholarship

Annually awarded to a Fine Arts Major of McCallum High School

in memory of education pioneer Ruth Denney.

The Ruth Denney Memorial Scholarship was created to honor Ruth Denney, UT Distinguished Professor Emeritus, founder of Houston’s High School of the Performing and Visual Arts, and charter member of A.N. McCallum Creative Learning and Career Advancement Foundation (McCallum HS Foundation).

The $1000 merit scholarship is awarded each year to recognize an outstanding McCallum Fine Arts Academy graduate.  It is open to a McCallum Fine Arts Academy senior who has both fulfilled all requirements of a fine arts academy major in either art, dance, theatre or music and who has plans to enroll as a fine arts major in college.  The scholarship is administered by the McCallum CLCA Foundation.

The recipient will be announced at the annual Fine Arts Academy Convocation in June.  To receive the scholarship, the recipient must provide confirmation of acceptance to a college, university, or art institute prior to the start of the freshman school year. The scholarship must be claimed in the first semester after graduation; scholarship monies unclaimed by that time will be forfeited.

We recommend preparing your essay in advance of initiating the on-line application.
(You may copy/paste your completed ESSAY into the application form - 500-word LIMIT.)
